Manager Diller Geist outlines a potent New Holland squad for the Tri County League with key changes from last year. An exhibition game is set with Piggy Hutton’s Eighth Ward team of Lancaster for Saturday April 30 on the local diamond, anticipated as a thriller.
The Ace of Clubs Girls' Dramatic Club sponsored by the Lions Club will present a three act farce comedy titled Corney Breaks Her Record on May 3 at the Edison Theatre. Coach Paul Sauer of Lancaster and Miss Barbara Stone of the local school faculty lead the club with reservations opening April 28 at 7 00 p m. General admission is 25 cents with 15 cents extra for reserved seats.
Mr and Mrs Martin Hoffman announce the birth of a son weighing 74 pounds on Wednesday evening at Lancaster General Hospital. The baby boy has been named Harry W the newest member of the family.
John H. Good of East Earl R D 2 and Elva M. Rutt of Bowmansville recently obtained a license to marry, signaling plans for a forthcoming ceremony in the Lancaster region.

Bishop Mack conducted services at Stony Brook and Columbia Mission and Abe Levitt hosted Philadelphia relatives with a dinner honoring the recently married Spottsmans.

In the borough this week two weddings were celebrated. Miss Harriet Boyer wed Jason B Kling with Rev. J G Noss officiating. Miss Margaret White Snader married Rev. W Stuart Cramer, with Rev. S M Mountz and Rev. J G Noss assisting.
Easter was a perfect day with clear skies and a steady thermometer reading, as recorded in the Clarion edition from April 22, 1922.
The Constant Workers' Class of Trinity Lutheran church plans a Washington Tea in the Parish House on Thursday April 28 at 8 pm. Twenty five attended a covered dish luncheon as plans were finalized. Franklin and Marshall College Glee Club will perform with vocal and instrumental pieces and impersonations. tickets sold at nominal prices for adults and children ages 6 to 12.
A six man delegation including firm members visited New Holland to explore a tape manufacturing plant. They proposed leasing or erecting a 75 by 50 foot building and leasing part of the Stork Snader and Company plant, but current guarantees of employment were deemed insufficient. Local businessmen believe strong proposals could bring jobs and town support.
The New Holland Evening School will close May 15 after students voted to continue sessions until then. The school offers commercial courses including commercial law and began on September 15 under director M. G. Denlinger with Miss Alta Hoover assisting, with plans to reopen next fall.
The installation of officers at Earl Lodge No 413 I O O F was postponed from April 21 to Thursday evening April 28 due to scheduling changes involving District Deputy Grand Master Paul Uibel and his staff.

A chicken house on the Martin Weaver farm near the old Western School house burned yesterday afternoon. About 200 chicks and 80 ducks perished in the flames caused by an overheated stove in a brooding house. Firemen from New Holland responded with two trucks. Jerre Martin, son-in-law of Mr. Weaver, occupies the farm, but the destroyed property belonged to the latter.
Mrs Elizabeth Kiehl widow of Emanuel Kiehl died last Thursday at her Lynfield home Montgomery county. She leaves daughter Mrs Alice Horning of Lynfield three grandchildren and siblings Mrs Jacob Getz Mrs Harry Streaker Mrs Ellie Shaub Mrs Samuel Edwards and Wesley Dietrich of Lancaster. Services were held Saturday at Mechanicsburg at 2 00 pm and burial followed there.
Elias Brinton Sahm four died from pneumonia after eight weeks illness at Lancaster General hospital. He is survived by his parents J Eugene Sahm Sr and Mrs Sahm two brothers J Eugene Jr Norman and Doris at home and grandfather Elias Stauffer of Bridgeville. Funeral held Sunday at 1 30 p m from his grandfather's home with services at Bridgeville E C Church and burial in Bridgeville cemetery.
Lizzie Messner widow of William Messner aged 79 died Monday at her Lincoln Avenue home in Ephrata from a complication of diseases. Survived by children Minnie Seibold Bertha Mull Maggie Sweigart William and Howard Messner. 21 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. brothers William Hoffman of Terre Hill and Samuel Hoffman of Ephrata. Mennonite Church member. Services at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at home and 2:00 p.m. at Ephrata Mennonite Church Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ephrata to follow.
Mrs. Lydia Wertsch Christ, wife of Lincoln M. Christ, aged seventy six, died at home in Hopeland Monday evening at 7 15 from a complication of diseases. She leaves her husband and two sisters Mrs Polly Fasnacht of Denver and Mrs Hannah Roehrer of Adams Town. A Hope land U B Church member. Funeral services Saturday at 1 30 p m at the home and 2 00 p m at Hopeland U B Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs Anna M White aged twenty eight wife of G Lester White of Weidmans ville died Tuesday evening at 7 55 in Lancaster General hospital from a complication of diseases She was a daughter of Rev Noah and Lydia Martin Hurst of Clay and a member of the Mennonite church Continued on Page 8.

The old mill on the Conestoga in East Earl township, once owned by Moses H. Kurtz and previously by Farmers National Bank, dates to before 1739. Jacob Byerle built the original Water Grist Mill and attached saw mill, later held by Peter and Michael Shirk as tenants in common. The Lauder mill site sits within the same 390 acre tract, with historic ties to early Mennonite figures and local land history.
Mrs Amos M Evans formerly Miss Ida Mae Lowry received a kitchen shower last night at the home of Mrs F C Aungst. The event was hosted by the Ladies Bible Class of Ranch's United Brethren church with a special program of entertainment. Hostesses were Mrs Kate Andrews Miss Laura Overly and Mrs Aungst.
The local High School chorus performed Jerry of Jericho Road last Friday in the school house auditorium drawing an almost full house. Miss Sara J. Kennedy supervised the music and directed the performance with praise for all participants and especially the chorus. The leading parts impressed with naturalness reflecting diligent study and practice.
Local Lions expect attendance at the Hotel Bruns wick Lancaster rally Monday at 7:00 p m Standard Time with Ben Ruffin former Lions International president as principal speaker. Paradise Club sponsors the event. Regular club meeting follows Tuesday evening.
Kenneth M. Walter and Miss Gladys J. Kauffman were married at 5:00 PM in the parsonage of St Stephen Reformed church in Lancaster. The ceremony was performed by Rev. C. G. Bachman with attendants Miss Helen Benedict and Clarence Wittle. The couple will reside at 572 North Plum Street.
Yunninger of Eden township wed Miss Florence Brackbill daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Brackbill near Kinzer on Saturday afternoon at the Paradise Presbyterian church manse. Attendants included Miss Anna Snader and Miss Marian Althouse. Reception followed at the couple’s new home in Strasburg township.

Robert W. Sprecher of New Holland and Ellen Jane Sandoe of East Earl RD 1 were married Saturday at 1:00 PM at the bride’s parents home. Rev. John M. Buyers of Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church officiated. The ceremony was witnessed by immediate family. the couple will reside in New Holland.
Richard Kochel opened the Boy Scouts meeting with the oath laws and roll call. During the business session John Sensenig Jr gave the scouts plans for an upcoming marble project.
Miss Dorothy Martin of Union Avenue was taken to Lancaster General Hospital after a sudden appendicitis attack. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Elmer Martin. A. Foust operated.
The newly licensed New Holland Creamery operates the milk station once leased from New Holland Dairies Inc by Regent Dairies Products Corp whose lease expired. William J Markel of Honey Brook runs the creamery. About 250 cans daily are shipped to New York. Regent representatives run the cheese plant.
Beiler Swiss Cheese Plant two miles south of Groffdale on the Groffdale Intercourse road began making Swiss cheese last Friday. A Swiss cheese maker heads production in two large vats each yielding a 160 pound cheese. Local farmers join a cooperative effort supplying milk. Officers include Daniel Bedler president B B Stoltzfus treasurer and Christian Beiler assistant treasurer. Jonathan Fisher of New Holland will market most of the product.
Benjamin Weaver of Blue Ball sustained scalp lacerations and multiple rib injuries when the car he occupied collided with another driven by Rev Elp Hoffiner of Hanover in East Petersburg. Weaver was taken to Lancaster General Hospital after the crash near Mrs L T Godewater’s property. Witnesses said Weaver’s vision was blocked by parked cars as a stop sign was honored. He returned home yesterday afternoon.
Sealed bids for the removal of dirt and stone from Ranck's A B Church Cemetery must be received by May 1, 1932. Work to be finished within 10 days after award.
