Lancaster readers learn that J Warfel opens a new veterinary office at the old stand of the late Dr I Buahong on Main street New Holland formerly Shaub Veterinary Hospital, Lancaster. He is a graduate of the United States College of Veterinary Surgeons in Washington DC and is reachable by independent telephone 290.

Noted veterinary surgeon Dr Harry B Summy died at his home on South Prussian Street Manheim. The sudden death ends a career serving animals and their owners with longtime practice and community work.
Monday the thirty four year old De ceased died after a prolonged illness from complications of ailments. He began his profession in the borough and was successful. He belonged to Council No. 382 and O U A M of Manheim. Besides his wife a son George G. survives. His parents Mr and Mrs S G Sumimy of the Sumipy House Manheim and one brother Homer G also survive.
The Republican county committee met in No 2 court room to fix primary date and candidate assessments for Congress prothonotary sheriff treasurer registrar clerk of quarter sessions coroner commissioners directors of the poor and prison inspectors. The session approved a May 10 1908 primary date and adopted a slate of candidate assessments including 100 for several posts and 40 for prison inspectors.
Mrs A F Grube of Lancaster visited town with her parents Mr and Mrs Anos Seldomridge. Mrs Katie DeHaven and son Paul of Salisbury spent several days in town with Mrs J 10 Darrow. Miss Annie C Brubaker remains in town. Mr Diller shopped in Philadelphia for spring and summer goods. Dr Ow HL Roland of Lancaster spent Tuesday with his mother Miss Marion H Wenninger of Readive. Mr Miller of Reading and Raymond Baum and family of Lancaster spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs N C Henninger. Eli Hess spent Tuesday in Philadelphia.
Letters received by Musselman trustee of Franklin Zimmerman, missing since 1895, report varying fates from railroad death to living in a Wisconsin town. Inquiries in the Clarion two weeks prior triggered widespread westward notices, with many locations and sightings noted. The missing man’s whereabouts are still unresolved.
Levi Groff of Bareville drove a three-horse team loaded with planks through the borough Monday morning. At the terminus a trolley car started and overtook him. The lead horse veered and broke the wagon tongue. no other damage occurred as Groff braced and continued westward with the load.
Mrs Mary Stirling aged sixty seven widow of David Stirling died at her Gap home Tuesday morning after several days illness from heart disease. She is survived by three children Mrs Jane Hoar of Soudersburg William of Gap and Carson of this borough. A Presbyterian church member she was held in high esteem. Funeral services were at her late home yesterday at 10:30 AM with interment in Bellevue Presbyterian cemetery.
On Tuesday morning the county commissioners visited Wenger's bridge over the Conestoga near Brownstown to assess storm damage. They found a root portion blown off and other structural harms requiring repair.
Reports detail the death of David Myera a resident of Balmerstown in Upper Lencock township found near a trolley line west of Beaureville. The coroner ruled the skull fracture cause by being struck by a trolley car during a night journey. the New Holland line operated by Praretion Company was exonerated. Myers aged about forty five left for home after a Saturday afternoon in Lancaster and was last seen near the Midway hotel. He leaves a widow and six children.
The United Brothers Sunday School of Ephrata borough reports the church is free of all indebtedness on the church property. The building, erected in 1802, cost about 1708. The church membership is 60 with a Sunday School of 250. Year ending October 1, 1901 contributions totaled 1880.95.
Mrs Catharine Harley widow of Elder Sarley living on South State street Ephrain had a purse stolen by a pickpocket at the funeral of Michael G Groff which was held from a local church.

A Monday evening at the Washington Club saw five candidates initiated in an impressive ceremony. After the program, a luncheon was served in the reception rooms and attendees socialized warmly. An effort is planned to hold another initiation session in May.
The widow Mas Cothartine Mapp of Wenverkted died Tuesday afternoon at 21 o clock at her daughter's home Mrs Barton Sindbhy in Serre Halk from an apparent illness. Surviving children include Mrs Sarah Kuser Reading Mrs Mary Smith ferrre Thi Mrs Eliza Ratt Terre Willy Mrs Ida Ashley Reading and Christian T. Rupp Reamstown. Funeral is set for Sunday at the house and interment at Weavertinnd.
Rapid progress by hundred workers on the Tanerster and Manheim electric railway. The pole gang nears the toll gate to Pair Hill, grading crews follow, and track layers push from Kauffman's meeting house. About a quarter mile of track laid daily, with test cars expected by mid next week.
Three more smallpox cases reported in Columbia this week. Benjamin Breneman, driver for the Philadelphia and Reading freight waron, John Shackenbach, brother of Harry Shackenbach, and Charles Shuter, fifteen, son of Ludwig Shuter, all quarantined. An additional case reported near borough limits.

At a special church meeting in Trinity Lutheran Church RR 8 Brubaker was chosen as delegate to the spring Lancastr Conference. The conference will be held at the Lutheran church in Rothsville next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thursday evening at the Styer House in Thinhborough proprietor John C Grube hosted a sour kraut supper. The New Holland Orchestra played charming music and the guests enjoyed a fine social gathering with friends.
The Diller Hardware Company is repainting the store room interior which results in a greatly improved appearance of the room and overall shop.
The reading room at the Styer House in the borough was repapered this week. The paper features a grayish cast and is noted for its beautiful design.
