Opening Trout Season Draws Local Anglers
Fishermen James P. Davis and George Sprecher fished Wednesday along the Conestoga and returned with a dozen fine catfish. Samuel Hoover also caught a nice bunch. John Muckle and son had modest luck. Thursday opened trout season with many anglers reporting good catches. Frank McMichael, trolley conductor, led the day with seven trout from eight to fifteen inches, though he declined to reveal the stream.

A large gathering at Mr. and Mrs. Matthias Kaley of 90 Diller Avenue paid respects to the elderly couple last Friday. Guests brought provisions for the larder including coffee flour sugar canned goods sausage ham butter eggs potatoes crackers cakes rice dried fruits and money and offered an Easter greeting before departing. Marianna G Brubaker reported 172 pages distributed and sent March meeting accounts to four newspapers. The group discussed the prize essay contest and noted one pupil preparing an essay. The president listed contest points for the county unions. The meeting voted to contribute $2 toward the church coal fund and adjourned after collections.

Diller Holds Large Horse Sale After Fire Loss
Geo. K. Diller conducted a major sale at the Blue Ball Hotel Stables on Thursday. About 160 head of horses plus mules, cows and shoats were sold. A pair of horses brought 532.50 and a fine driving horse 240. Receipts totaled about 15 000. He will not hold a sale next week due to a lawsuit, but plans a sale on Thursday April 29 featuring about 150 horses and other livestock.
