William Z Martin Holds First Annual Livestock Sale
The William Z Martin farm north of the borough hosted the first annual livestock sale with 108 horses and mules, 48 cows, and 86 shoats sold. Total receipts reached 17 968.30 dollars with carload Western horses averaging 140 and notable bids on acclimated horses and mules. A follow up sale of horses and cows is planned in two weeks as Martin heads to Kentucky to buy saddle and driving horses for May sales.

Nathan Evans and the Bangor Church Founder in Early 1700s
Nathan Evans from Wales led land grants in Conestoga valley begun 1720, became a major taxpayer by 1754, and a key Bangor church member. He helped build the 1733 log case for worship and funded the 1754 first stone church, with a 1758 bible note by church wardens Turbett and Evans. He died 1765 and his son James built the estate later.
