Barn Fire Burns Farm Structures and Livestock Loss
A frame barn on Henry Eberly's Hawksville farm burned Saturday evening, destroying two mules, a horse, six cows and a calf, wagons, harness, and crops. Benjamin Garner and family narrowly escaped as flames consumed the upper area. hogs were saved though one was injured. Quarryville fire engine arrived but did not spray, and losses are estimated at least 3000 with little insurance. The blaze is suspected incendiary. owners urge safety and insurance reviews.
