On Sunday afternoon Dr Fuh secretary of the Bancaster board of health Dr Detweiler and Dr Cassel conducted a thorough inspection of the Franklin House and declared it safe with no possible contagion. The hotel had been quarantined for weeks during a smallpox scare and was disinfected in every room. After quarantine was lifted the hotel reopened but business remained strong with many diners.
