Columbus Ohio October 10 At 2 am the returns indicate the election of Hoadly and the Democratic State ticket by at least 5000 majority. The vote is the largest ever cast. Republicans gain in Cleveland and Cincinnati as Germans vote against both Democrats and the prohibitory amendment. Legislature will be close. Prohibitory amendment likely 10000 to 15000 majority outside Cincinnati and Cleveland. Democrats claim State by 7000 and Legislature 73 Democrats 65 Republicans. Cincinnati Gazette thinks Republicans carried state by a few hundreds. Des Moines Iowa October 9 enormous vote. Republicans carried state but majority under 30000. Democratic vote up 25000 from 1880 president tally. Legislature Republican. Washington DC October 6 capital grows in population wealth and architecture.
