A farmer Charles Rinard and three Miller children were hauling goods home when Rinard bent to remove a sausage-mill near Maple crossing. The wagon and one horse fell on the track as a locomotive struck, throwing the team into a field. One horse died, others injured. Rinard and the four passengers were bruised but survived. The incident follows widespread county notices of local miscreants, rail ventures, and various small town events.
