Special to the New Harmony Register from Indianapolis notes surveying agent JT C Mendenhall found the Indiana-Ohio boundary only about a mile out of line at the north end, tapering to the existing line, yielding under 100 square miles of Indiana to Ohio and no large town in the strip.

Washington December 8 The Ohio official returns show McKinley trailing his ticket by 6000 to 8000 votes, dampening Republican optimism and shaping talk around his presidential prospects.
Washington Dec 8 The House elected the Democratic ticket with Charles F Crisp of Georgia and Thomas B Reed of Maine leading the Speaker vote while T E Watson of Georgia also receiving ballots.
