New Harmony letter dated November 30 1882 describes John Wheatcroft John Walz J A Miller and Catherine traveling to Evansville for a R G Ingersoll lecture. The male delegation and Dr Murphy attend. The writer full of praise notes the crowd mostly men and some women and urges others to hear the orator praising his truth and the memory of a revered woman in sublime terms.
