Blue Beard origin traced to Brittany legends and Comorre
The article explores the historical roots of the Blue-beard tale through Brittany’s Castle Finans and the tyrant Comorre. It links Perrault’s fairy tale to legends from Carhaix, St. Gildas, and Triphyne, recounting Comorre’s murders, a saintly intercession, and a royal-abbey clash that echoes in the familiar tale.
