Postmaster Rambles From a Short Lived Ambition
A humorous reminiscence recounts a man who seizes the postmastership amid resignation and graveyard-nifted petitions, trades letters by the first come first served motto, and quickly becomes embroiled in jealous spouses, divorces, and townwide chaos before fleeing to another town. The piece blends sharp anecdotes about letters, wives, preachers, and a series of comic misadventures as the ex postmaster reflects on his failed tenure.
