Indianapolis engineer Byers injured in the Big Four wreck at Springfield Ohio. He and fireman Maley leapt from their engine to avoid the crash, escaping with slight injuries. Byers suffers facial bruising and has remained at rest after the incident while Maley has a broken arm and sprains.

W. W. Stevens chairman of the Indiana Committee on agriculture, horticulture and livestock at the St. Louis World’s fair has chosen F. C. Phelps of New Castle as superintendent of the Cotswold department in the sheep exhibit. The appointment honors Phelps and Henry county.
M A Welch of Middletown arrives home Saturday after a three year term in the regular army. He served with troop L of the Cavalry and was mustered in October 30, 1800. Welch is one of Middletown's bravest young men and saw service in Cuba during his term.

T P O'Brien of Elwood Indiana a leading contractor and politician sues the P C and St L railway and Dr Weist of Richmond for 10000 damages. He alleges his son Patrick Jr was thrown from a seat two years ago on a company train and suffered a broken arm. He says the bones were reset in Richmond but the operation was improperly performed leaving the arm permanently crooked.
Col F E Freeman of Wrightstown, once a renowned language teacher and former colonel of the Ohio Volunteer Groups, died Sunday morning after a street collision in Indianapolis three weeks ago. He lost sight in both eyes during his military service and was well known in the city for his teaching and public service.
