The Henry County Fair Association plans a big season with hippodrome races new features and strong purses. Liberal prizes will be offered for farm products handmade items canned fruit and related fair attractions to draw crowds. Officials expect good horses to boost attendance and emphasize the traditional fair experience.
The group aims to align farmer seed selection and miller interests. Harry Martin of this city led the effort, with W. H. Martin of New Castle as president, J. M. Wellington of Anderson as vice president, C. J. Pickering of Middletown as secretary treasurer, and a board including W. H. Martin, J. M. Wellington, John Andrews, Adna Webb, D. C. Ortiz, Peter Strepaulk and others from multiple towns.
A contractor building near 12th and Vine keeps lumber stone and other materials in the street. No warning light was placed and wind may have blew it out last night. The condition is described as dangerous and negligent and requires regular inspection.

The Greenberry Hedges farm residence of Mr. Irwin Lodge near Cadiz was destroyed by a Friday afternoon blaze. He discovered the fire while working in a field, with no items saved except clothing. About 15 in paper money was burned along with the contents, totaling around 1500 with no insurance.

J A Newby and Clay C Hunt drove to Mooreland in Newbys car on Thursday returning quickly. On request to speed up, Newby accelerated and covered ten miles in twenty five minutes. Trusty called the trip fast and plans to buy a similar machine.

Elmer J. Binford, general attorney for the Indianapolis and Eastern, said a work gang will move from Spiceland toward New Castle, meeting the northern crew near New Castle. He estimated the Dunreith Spiceland line grade is within three miles of New Castle and could be finished by August first if weather stays favorable.
At a pre dedicational meeting committees moved Red Men paraphernalia from the old quarters to the Maxim building. They work day and night to render lodge rooms attractive with a new floor furniture and decorations. Dedication is slated for Saturday as members show enthusiasm and plan orderly arrangements.
Ora Morris, a clerk at the McIntyre shoe store, was stung by bees when he disturbed a honey nest Monday afternoon. He was badly stung on both eyes and cheeks and hopes to return to work around July 4.
A series of clerical reassignments take effect today across Pan Handle and Lake Erie depots. Martin Byer moves from the local office to Montpelier as agency head. R Heston resigns his night shift post to become Mart’s chief clerk. George Grant, previously at Richmond, is promoted to fill Heston’s role. James Koons will replace Byer in Montpelier.
Saturday the crank shaft on the large engine at the Shovel factory broke. With no auxiliary engine the plant closed until repairs are completed. Officials expect full operation to resume by Thursday or Friday.
The Indiana Dental Association met at the Denison Hotel in Indianapolis this afternoon. Dentists from across the state attended with many specimens of dental art and invention on exhibition. Drs. A. T. White CO V. Hall and E J. Hamilton attended this morning and Dr. Lamb plans to go tonight.
In Muncie on Sunday the Knights of Pythias and the Odd Fellows held a joint memorial service. On Sunday June 25 members from New Castle lodges attended and took part in the day’s exercises. About 1400 men marched in the line. The ceremonies drew unusually attractive and interesting remarks.
Members of New Castle lodge No. 91 A F and A M gathered Sunday June 21 in a Presbyterian church service to mark St. John the evangelist. Rev I L Dungan preached an excellent sermon fitting the occasion, honoring the Masonic patron.
Ray Johnson of Carthage and Miss May Berry of Detroit Mich were quietly wed Thursday evening in Detroit. The groom is a popular embalmer in Carthage and the bride is part of Detroit's social set. Attending the ceremony was OC H Johnson, brother of the groom.
