Governor Casey undergoes test for possible silent heart attack

Gov Robert P Casey, 55, was hospitalized at Hershey Medical Center for further tests after a morning cardiac catheterization was ordered following an Aug 31 ECG abnormality. doctors said a second EKG showed a new abnormality suggesting a possible silent heart attack earlier.

County seeks job study decision by Monday

Service set for Bart E Richards editor emeritus dies at 94

A service will be held Friday for Bart E Richards 94 editor emeritus of the New Castle News who died yesterday morning in Hartford Conn after a brief illness. The service is at 1 p.m. at Cunningham Funeral Home with Rev Daniel Orris officiating. Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Interment at Castle View Memorial Gardens. He was born February 6 1893 in Pittsburgh and moved to New Castle as a child. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Weingartner, a son George T Richards, a daughter Ann Brooks, a sister Elizabeth Balentine seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Florence. He worked for The News 43 years.

Building tenants ordered to vacate on New Castle main street

Tenants of the Centennial Building at East Washington and Mill streets must vacate by Nov 30. The owner, Robert McGaffie, seeks a buyer and funding to renovate, while the Redevelopment Authority keeps the building in urban renewal plans and faces a ongoing lawsuit from 1978. Most tenants have already moved out as demolition plans evolve.
