Juan D. Peron is to depart aboard the gunboat Paraguay with a safe conduct permit from foreign officials. He has hid in Paraguay for eight days to avoid revolutionary forces and may transfer to the Humaita for the journey to Asuncion.
A massive air sea search starts in the Caribbean for eleven Navy crew and civilians missing after a flight into Hurricane Janet. The Neptune patrol plane failed to return from a scouting mission and contact was lost near the eye of the storm. The hurricane, moving west near Nicaragua, had already claimed many lives in the Windward Islands.

De Casaus was booked on manslaughter suspicion after an open liquor bottle was found in his car and his vehicle crossed the divider and struck the other cars. Firemen extinguished a gasoline blaze.
U S Air Force planes delivered emergency supplies to Iwo Jima as a 24 hour typhoon battered the Pacific island. Reported minor injuries among air personnel and major damage to all buildings after the storm.
