A 1970s transportation study by Simpson and Curtin forecasts New Castle adding 300 parking spaces at 1 050 000 and purchasing 14 minibuses at 20 788 each. It also anticipates 100 parking spaces at 1 500 each, 60 000 for 20 bus shelters, and a new 18 bus garage built at 17 000 per vehicle with related equipment totaling 341 000. The plan notes no rail needs and cites a 15 percent rise in bus ridership over a decade.
Metropolitan Life Insurance Co plans to leave its present location at 2002 Wilmington Road in the next few months.
