Two Men Pay Fines For Fracas At City Police Incident
Two city men, Fred Upperman and Ivan Rogers, each paid 15 fines after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct following a late night scuffle during a routine police questioning on Cherry Street. California Fire Threat Continues Across the State

Red Cross Orientates Volunteers in Lawrence County
Fourteen new volunteer workers for the Lawrence County Chapter of the American Red Cross attended an orientation at the chapter house 222 N. Democrats Excluded From Sewer Project Talks
Two Democratic city council members, Richard H. City Firefighters Respond to Two Small Blazes

DETROIT UPI The United Auto Workers and General Motors Corp began a marathon settlement drive to avert a strike by 350 000 workers at 10 am Friday. UAW President Walter P Reuther warned that without meaningful progress in noneconomic areas a GM strike is likely. GM Vice President Louis G Seaton said bargaining showed overall movement toward agreement. Reuther told Chrysler council members a GM strike could shut Ford and Chrysler down due to shared parts.
