Mike Mastranduono also known as Mike Masters, about 40, of Willow Grove, was found fatally crushed near the Lawrence Junction yards. He left the roundhouse after quitting work about 3 pm and was last seen leaving the building around 7:20 pm. His body lay beside the northbound track, head inside rails and legs outside, the result of a train incident investigated by Coroner J. P. Caldwell.
Mrs. Mary Fasano, 53, of Harbor Road, was electrocuted when a 36 foot pump and iron pipe being raised from a well buckled and toppled onto primary wires. Husband Francisco Grace and a nephew, Pasquale Fasano, escaped injury. ambulance failed to reach New Castle hospital in time.

In Erie, Pennsylvania, S. G. Warren of the Sheet Metal Company and Stanley Debkowski were convicted in a federal trial for manufacturing stills used to illegally distill liquor. Desperate over finances Harry Deit rich Dietrich, 40, killed wife and four children with an axe in his Spry area farmhouse near York and then hanged himself from a barn rafter. A note said the family had decided to die together.
City Solicitor Robert White announced the public service commission approved selling the municipal conduit to Bell Telephone for 70000 dollars. A Bell representative said payment would arrive within a few days.
Mrs Ruth Crawford of New Castle Pennsylvania found a cod weighing about three pounds in Digby Nova Scotia with an aluminum license plate USBF 8155 beneath its mouth. The plate likely marks a United States Bureau of Fisheries tag while curious locals joke about the fish’s Canadian voyage and a possible leap aboard a yacht.
The jury in Lawrence County Court found Eugene Sullivan guilty of manslaughter in the July 24 death of A. J. Nader at the Commodore lunch room on West Washington Street. The grand jury had reduced the charge from first degree murder. The maximum penalty is six to twelve years. Sullivan testified in his own defense, calling Harry Jennings and James Mangini.

Neighbors heard a dog barking at 11 o'clock and found a burglar trying to force a downstairs window at I. S. Rudolph’s home on Croton avenue. The intruder fled before police arrived. no entry or disturbance was found when the Rudolphs returned from their cottage near Volant.

Akron police opened a probe into a fatal blast that ripped apart a borrowed car killing Clarence R. Barnes a 43 year old salesman. Barnes was hurled 40 feet and died at City hospital. Investigators weigh dynamite in the car against an infernal machine hidden inside.
