New Castle District Won’t Appeal Open Records Ruling
The New Castle school board will not appeal a PA Open Records ruling requiring the district to release the names of employees living outside the district whose children attended New Castle schools without tuition. The district must provide names to the New Castle News within 30 days or file in Lawrence County Court. Superintendent Sarandrea said the board, after executive session following an expulsions hearing, advised against appeal and employees have not yet been informed of the decision.

Vo Tech Board to Bid for Forensic Audit
The Lawrence County Career and Technical Center joint operating committee voted 8 to 3 to advertise for bids for a forensic auditor to examine the center’s financial records. Anna Pascarella urged the in depth audit to uncover funds from past enrollment projections and reimbursements owed to member districts. The center currently owes districts $450,572 for 2010 11 and plans to finish the practical nursing program in February as enrolled students graduate.

Local Wilmington student to join All National Symphony Orchestra
Wilmington High School senior Jarod Forsythe will perform French horn with the All National Honors Ensembles in Nashville at a gala in the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. He joins 600 plus top high school musicians under conductors Peter Boonshaft Miriam Burns Rollo Dilworth and Rodney Whitaker. Forsythe balances music with business aims and plans to study at Washington & Jefferson University to pursue a CEO career.
