Pa. Allows TV Cameras in Civil Courts for One Year
Pennsylvania Supreme Court approves a one year trial permitting television cameras in non jury civil court proceedings starting Oct. 1 with judge consent and filming only those who do not object. The rule excludes criminal cases and sets placement and pool rules for broadcasters led by WTAE-TV.

City to lay off CETA workers under new rules
At least 16 city employees hired under the CETA program will be laid off September 30 with 3 or 4 possibly retained through year end. Nine in public works, five in recreation, two in winterization, two clerical, one code enforcement and one in engineering face termination. Mayor Rogan to decide next week.
