In federal court in Oklahoma City twelve defendants including H. J. Bailey and Albert Bates face charges in the Urschel holding against will case. Prosecutor Kelly described a menacing letter threating Urschel and family, part of a broader abduction and ransom scheme.
Local notes recount a large Fox squirrel in Gaston Park misjudging a jump from a Purple oak and breaking its back after a sixty foot fall. Two men died when their automobile was struck by a fast Pennsylvania passenger train on the Lincoln highway near Bucyrus. Jacob Bohning, 60, a German national, and Paul Hoffman, 60, of Fairbury Illinois, were killed instantly. Bohning had just arrived in America last Wednesday.

Mayors and councilmen from forty third class Pennsylvania cities gathered in Erie for the annual league meeting opening this morning. Over 200 delegates attended as sessions run through tomorrow night with reports, committee appointments, and talks by Harrisburg official Robert Frey and Meadville city engineer Roy Williams. The convention will decide next year’s host city and complete nominating reports, with the banquet Friday night closing the event.
A sailor on the Johanna Smith was fatally shot during a gambling ship murder mystery off Long Beach. Police detained about 200 guests and 40 crew as coast guard cutters sealed the vessel in fog while authorities question all aboard. Norman Lorraine of Baltimore, 22, was identified among those detained. motive remains unclear.
A six room frame dwelling owned by Jacob Klish on Butler Avenue Extension Shenango Township burned at 5 25 this morning. Loss estimated at 5000 partly insured. The vacant house was discovered ablaze in the upper part. two fire departments fought the blaze from box 413 but were unable to save the structure.
Wiley Post, famed American aviator and world record holder, crashed during takeoff at a Quincy airfield. He was rushed to St Marys Hospital and officials say injuries are not serious. he will likely remain several days for observation.
Late Wednesday afternoon Third Precinct of Wayne Township unre ported at two o clock was brought into the Gourk House The vote recorded in this precinct made no change in the general results though it did add some votes to a few of the winners The vote for sheriff was Edward D Pritchard 21 M M Ingham H Martin Lee 6 Edwin A Porter 1 and John E Fee 1 This increases Pritchard s total to 7518 Alvah Shumaker carried the precinct for District Attorney with 25 votes Riley got 4 and Lampree and Frank got none This puts Riley s total at 5763 Harry Cunningham carried the precinct for Register and Recorder with 21 votes J Russell Brodbeck got 2 James E Moorhead 1 Jeannette W Hutton 5 Edwin Q Reed etc

Davies with Solicitor Robert White, Contract Phil Greer, City Engineer Harry Hoskins, and Planning Commission’s Matthew Gunton. Mayor C. B. Mayne and Finance Director Hoyland plan to attend Friday sessions.
CHICAGO September 21 Herbert Hoover the nation's only living ex president faced crowds at the World's Fair. He and Mrs Hoover began with a 9 a m visit to the Social Science building and were followed by curious onlookers all morning. The pair praised the fair's wonders and waved to greeted crowds. The divorce suit of Gus Sonnenberg formerly Dartmouth star and pro wrestler, against Judith Allen Hollywood actress, charges extreme cruelty and may be tried in a few days, per Sonnenberg's attorney. The item appears in Reno Nevada dated Sept 21 though with misdated lines.
In federal court Oklahoma City, Fred Coleman, son of T M Coleman of Stratford, demanded five minutes to speak during the Urschel kidnapping trial. Judge Vaught refused. Coleman was escorted out as authorities cited threats linked to gangsters. The hearing followed George Kelly’s death threat against the Urschels.
