Neshannock teachers picket as first strike closes district
Neshannock School District teachers began its first strike forcing schools to close and leaving 4,937 students idle. The 242 teachers and 60 special education staff from IU IV joined picketing across Lawrence Butler Mercer counties amid a dispute over salary. The district offers a $1,105 average raise for one year, seen as insufficient by educators who seek higher pay and non economic bargaining.

East Side seeks federal funds for housing and streets
City officials plan to travel to Washington to seek a waiver from HUD to allow a second Small Cities grant for the East Side.
