Denver residents dig out after 16 inches of snow dumped on the city over the weekend. Susan Ware, among others, clears her car as winter weather lingers. Lawrence County reports rain aiding local conditions while other regions face harsher forecasts.

Winds south 5 to 15 mph. precip 60 percent today and tonight, 40 percent Tuesday. Pollen count 1 grain per sq cm at St Francis Hospital lab. Moraine State Park records 75 F with south winds 13 mph. .15 in rain. attendance 2,517 Saturday and 3,279 Sunday.

President Nixon studied nominees to replace Justice Hugo L. Black as Justice John M. Harlan remains hospitalized with back problems. Contenders include Charles Rhyne Richard Poff Lewis Powell Walter Hoffman and George Young with two unknowns. Black cited ill health and has resigned letters delivered to the White House.
William Christy aged 29 of Wampum Road died from a fractured skull after his motorcycle struck a retaining wall on Croton Avenue Hill. Coroner Howard H. Reynolds ruled death at the scene with two male witnesses stating the bike was traveling west toward the S Walnut Street intersection when the crash occurred.
Gov. Milton J. Shapp tours flood damaged Chester and Norris Town, says state funds will be sought and 500 National Guardsmen kept on duty to clear debris. Federal aid and low interest loans are already available. Officials estimate Chester Norristown damage around 14 million dollars.
United Press International reports at least ten people died in Pennsylvania weekend highway accidents. Three Edinboro College students were killed when their car struck trees and a house along Route 99 near Edinboro. The students were Rosemary Grzywinski 18 of Natrona Heights Gerald A Kowalski 23 Eric and Walter Malone 23 of Midway Washington County.
A wage reopener deadlock idles 18 workers at Elliott Bros Steel Co Local 7749 United Steelworkers. No meeting since Wednesday as talks stall over a second year reopener in a three year contract for cold rolled strip steel. Meanwhile 350 workers at Rex Chain Bell Ellwood City plant stage an unauthorized walkout over a jurisdiction dispute.
Pittsburgh rolls the first early edition at 9 p.m. and a delivery truck departs at 9:15 p.m. as residents crowd the plant. The 128 day blackout ended after photoengravers accepted a two year wage contract with the Pittsburgh Press Co, ending a lengthy labor dispute.
Egyptian forces along the Suez Canal are on maximum alert with orders to retaliate immediately if Israeli fire resumes. MENA reports rising military temperature as Dayan warns of renewed fighting after the U.N. Assembly. Sadat reshuffles cabinet, while a grenade attack in Jerusalem kills a 4 year old and injures Baptists.
A black New York state legislator called for Gov. Nelson Rockefeller to be indicted for murder in the Attica prison deaths. Assemblyman Arthur Eve said he hoped black and Puerto Rican leaders would press for indictment. Ten hostages and 30 inmates died in the five day uprising.
