Hearings Continued for Bucks County Officials in Bribery Case
Preliminary hearings for Bucks County Commission Chairman Joseph Canby and Camden Fiber Mills President Louis Silverstein on bribery and conspiracy charges were continued by Justice of the Peace Robert Hunsicker. Separate trials were granted, with Canby set for Sept 29 and Silverstein for Sept 23. Both were arrested after a five week probe by Dist. Atty. Ward Clark. Canby allegedly accepted stock worth $5,000 in his wife’s name from Silverstein who sought to lower a $50,000 factory tax assessment. The appeal is pending in Bucks County Court.
