Severe storm moves toward the Virginia Capes with much damage reported already. Rescue workers are being immobilized for work along the coast as the danger increases.
Members of the Central Presbyterian congregation gathered Thursday evening at the church on the public square to honor Dr. and Mrs. Charles B. Wingerd on the tenth anniversary of his pastorate. George R. McClelland presided as ministers including Rev. D. C. Schnebly spoke, praising the pastor and wife. program followed a formal reception in the church main auditorium.
Lawrence County Garden Club and Mrs. S. De Graff Pearson announce a $1000 cash gift to the drive for remodeling the old post office into a free public library.
