A county jail source reports an expert asserting Vandivort is insane. The statement appears in a letter written before a shooting. Cement company officials deny circulating related stories.
A letter from Vandivort to his father dated June 18 1913 reports dismissal and social ostracism by Charles Greer and others. He cites near sightedness and a desire not to live, mentioning medical certificates and money sent separately. The note lists relatives Sam Robert Theodora Hubert plus others in authority.
Norman Vandivort wired his father about an hour before the shooting of Walter Linenbrink. Coroner Norris testified Vandivort sought medical certification in 1911 and again over a year later. Bank official Riley and Dr Phillips described Vandivort showing certificates and claiming rumors against him. Cement company employees denied spreading stories.
The 1913 New Castle city directory, compiled by Burch Directory company of Akron, has been distributed with the first copies arriving today. It lists about 42,000 residents, shows many changes since 1911, and is described as the most serviceable directory yet for the city.
Washington reports Theodore Roosevelt told Progressive House members he will fight to the finish and opposes uniting with Republicans. He supported the Progressive congressional committee and plans to aid campaigns next year, possibly returning to stump if time permits.

Cooper and Burton of near Harlansburg exhibited eight head of horses at the Stoneboro fair yesterday and carried away six first premiums. Attendance at the fair yesterday exceeded 17 000 spectators.
Wallace posts a strong showing at the primary across Rence and several neighboring counties. Early returns indicate solid support for the candidate amid a crowded field and regional voter turnout.
Early returns show ex Judge William D Wallace of Lawrence County trailing four others for the superior court judgeship with Alcorn Dickinson and Grim leading. Herman C. Laynes and five from St. Louis were robbed by three highwaymen near Bryan Ohio. The bandits took the auto cash jewelry and a gold purse then fled. Sheriff Weinlund was wounded during the pursuit and arrested one suspect named R W Duffy. Two others were captured at Wauseon Ohio.
The new city council faces passing an ordinance to pay their own salaries. No provision exists for December to April payments, requiring an appropriation of 3333.33 1 3 dollars.
A charter for the National Coal and Ice Company of Ellwood City has been filed. The capital is $15,000 divided into 150 shares of $100. The firm will deal in coal ice sand and gravel. Incorporators are W. W. Geldel and Lt. Faust. FB Mt.
Militant suffragettes set fire to W Parmlee’s unoccupied Theo balds Park mansion in Waltham England. Fire destroyed the costly mansion and rare art pieces with damage estimated at 190000 dollars. Police report two women seen nearby before discovery.
The Sulzer impeachment trial in New York opened with the court crier announcing that all business before the high court may draw near and be heard. The closing each day was proclaimed with a call to depart and return tomorrow at a stated hour.
Albany dispatch reports Gov William Sulzer refused to acknowledge the court of impeachment authority as 48 senators and nine judges convened. The court adjourned to 10 a m tomorrow while a three member committee sets rules. eight counts of impeachment are charged.
Aiken received the Republican nomination and Charles McFate the Democratic nomination for two open jury commissioner seats at Tuesday's primaries. Democrats are entitled to one seat, making the nominations effectively an election.

Three were perhaps fatally hurt doll and king injured internally carpal artery severed Emil Ruh severely burned and bruised others with cuts from shattered glass. A relief car was sent from Sandusky to bring the injured back.
W. M. Brown of this city secures a 99 year lease on the Brown and Hamilton store site on Washington street with an October start. The prior 25 year lease expires next month, making the total term about 124 years, likely the longest in the city.
In Baltimore on September 18 Charles G. Guth former Guth Chocolate president shot and mortally wounded his chauffeur George Murphy during a hand to hand clash in the garage at Guths residence. Guth, arrested, fired after Murphy struck with an ax and charged.
William Gwin of North Beaver township was laddering to pick plums when a stray pig chased under the ladder causing it to topple. He fell and broke his arm with other injuries. A guard dog was not present, having gone with another family member.
In France three of thirty passengers injured when an electric train plunged through a bridge between Grasse and Cagnes last night died today, raising the death toll to 15. Several more deaths expected as rescue efforts continue near Villeneuv Loubet.
