Raid Near Hillsville Seizes 14 Inmates At Levi Carrier Farm
Fourteen people including twelve men and two girls were arrested in a raid at the Levi Carrier farm one mile south of Hillsville. They appeared before Justice James H. Gardner Avenue Bridge Fire Suspected Arson
An alarm from box 55 around 11:30 last night sent Eighth ward firemen to the Gardner Avenue bridge where a wood floored structure was found on fire. The blaze, now out, likely started by negligence or a dropped match, cigaret, or similar. Had the bridge burned, traffic between the Seventh ward and the city would have suffered greatly.
