Judge Wallace Delivers Verdict In Immorality Case

In a peculiar Tuesday session Judge Wallace heard Rose Watt charged with maintaining a 13 year old daughter Lotte Watt for immoral purposes. The girl testified she was instructed by Chief Horner to lie, but later recanted, leading the judge to believe she perjured herself. Watt faces a possible long sentence while the daughter is slated for juvenile court and the case of keeping a bawdy house proceeds later.

Plea Heard in Neglect Case Ahead of Thursday Sentence

Tuesday afternoon the defendant pleaded none cantendere to charges of neglecting her children. Judge Wallace will sentence the prisoners on Thursday. Attorneys G V Alley and Charles Wallace represented the defense.

Effort Under Way To Establish Methodist Protestant Church In City

The Methodist Protestant denomination, new to this county, aims to form two churches in New Castle. Rev J W Righter of the church extension board will hold a meeting at the Y M C A parlors on Friday evening September 25 to gauge local interest. The church organized in 1828 in protest against Episcopal governance and is strong in nearby regions. no local church exists yet.

Robert Quigley and Harry Waters were arrested for fighting by Officer Houk and will have a hearing before Mayor Jackson Friday afternoon. They were taken Tuesday and remanded for appearance, with forfeits set. Other incidents include Charles Gry and George Brown among suspects and a pair named James and Marsh located by officers after a Tuesday evening disturbance.

Damages Sought After Baltimore & Ohio Freight Crash Near Cleveland

A Baltimore and Ohio freight train derailed after striking cars on the track near Cleveland. The engine overturned into a ditch, brakeman Yorn W. Sharp died, and a damage suit for 1910,000 was filed against the railroad accusing negligence. The suit names attorney W. S. Anderson of this city and Robert K. Aiken of New Castle as representatives for the plaintiff.

Death of Jown R. Grist Pioneer Valley Businessman

Jown R. Grist a longtime Mahoning valley entrepreneur died at Lowellville early Tuesday of Kerr culture after a long illness and strokes. Born February 10 in Payette County, Pa, he built wealth in limestone, pig iron, and banking, later owning limestone quarries and several firms including a bank directorship.
