Much of the large elderberry crop in Lawrence County is going to waste as berries along roads remain unpicked. Rapid progress is noted on a large bridge over Slippery Rock creek at Rose Point for the Butler-New Castle highway. Page 36 shows photos of the bridge as it stands. A detachment of the 28th Division marched through the city and camped at the armory before proceeding to Camp Atterbury. A second base coat is being laid on Cascade Street and road surfaces near Frew Mill Road will soon be ready for asphalt. Eastern Pennsylvania guardsmen were seen downtown en route to Camp Atterbury. City street department crews fixed a clogged catch basin at County Line and East Washington Street. Completion of deslicking on East Washington Street has earned praise from motorists.
