Markie's Law proposed to delay parole for violent inmates
State Rep. Aaron Bernstine to introduce Mark ie's Law delaying parole after minimum sentence for inmates with violent prior convictions. The measure follows the July 8 death of 9-year-old Mark ie Mason in New Castle where Keith L. Burley Jr. faced charges after being released on parole from a homicide conviction. Burley allegedly stabbed the boy and mother, then fled to Union Township. he is jailed in Lawrence County without bond. The bill seeks an extra 24 months postponement of parole for each violent offense while imprisoned.
