Reports were given by Miss Margaret Peebles and treasurer Mrs J B McClaren. After the election Mrs Florence Stevenson spoke on work at the New Castle Fair and the exhibit work at the New Wilmington union.
The Spanish freighter Navernor, built for 28 passengers, arrived with several hundred European refugees. Quarantine and health checks were conducted by public health officials after cables from Havana warned of matching conditions. About 777 refugees sailed, though around 340 were too ill or discouraged to continue to the United States. Relatives gathered on the pier as disembarkation waited for medical exams.
Burglars robbed two local residences, the Phipps home at 939 Harrison Street and the Coulthard home at 2046 Adams Street.
