Grave of Carl White from Cleveland Ohio was found opened at St Marys Cemetery after a night dig. A shovel and pick lay nearby and workers fled in fright. Guard on duty after the discovery fuels theories of possible desecration with no clear motive. Continued on Page Two.

City council and city solicitor debated a provision that a candidate with more than half the primary vote becomes the sole name on the general election ticket. They concluded the 50 percent clause cannot be applied to council races, and eight candidates would appear on the general ballot.
At the county courthouse, McKee secured first mayoral place Raney took city controller and Samuel A. Samuels earned the council slot in a public drawing.
