Gun rights advocate earns third Citizen of the Year title
Charles Schweinsberg of Adams Street, an 81 year old firearms instructor and pro gun rights advocate, has won the national Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms Citizen of the Year award for 1989 1990 and 1991. He criticizes Sen Arlen Specter and supports the Second Amendment while continuing to teach about 100 courses yearly.

Labor Day Telethon Sets Record Pledges At 47.1 Million
Jerry Lewis hosted the 29th annual Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon drawing 47.1 million dollars in pledges and 36.4 million from corporate sponsors. Locally at McDonald’s in Shenango Township pledges reached 5,389 dollars as the event ran overnight. The Sahara Hotel broadcast featured Ed McMahon, Tony Bennett, Billy Ray Cyrus, Neil Sedaka, Pat Boone, Charo, Boyz II Men, and co-host Leeza Gibbons with DJ Freddie Fresh and the Donna Roth School of Dance.
