100 Girls Run Wild at Pittsburgh High School
About 100 girls, some bare from the waist up, protested the Vietnam War inside South Hill High School in Pittsburgh. Thirty-four people were arrested, including 30 college-aged girls. two officers and two students were injured. Police say the demonstrators came from out of town with licenses from Oregon and Texas.

Two boys, pedestrians, were injured by cars in separate yesterday incidents. Colin McCormick, 4, of 1221 Huron Ave, received a head cut at St. Francis Hospital after running between parked cars into a northbound vehicle driven by Winifred Claire, 32, of 1407 Randolph St, around 7 pan. Paul Robertson, 6, of 313 Pine St, was treated for forehead and arm bruises and a left foot sprain at St. Francis after running between parked cars on Pine St into a car driven by Kathy L. Wilmes, 22, of 115 Richelieu Ave, about 4:27 p.m.

Blaze destroys tower at Conemaugh station in Huff
A welder torch spark caused a major fire at the Conemaugh Electric Co generating station in Huff Indiana County destroying the wooden base of a cooling tower. Officials estimate damage over 1 million. Fire units from 21 companies fought the blaze for about an hour with minor injuries reported. Ground broke in 1966 and completion of the station is expected next year.

Federal judges retire in three districts amid move to senior status
President Nixon accepted the retirement from active service of judges Harry E. Kalodner of Philadelphia Wallace Gourley of Pittsburgh and Sherrill Halbert of Sacramento. Five youths who escaped the Youth Study Center with a stolen key were returned by their mothers. Michael Gainey 15 Richard Love 14 Richard Warren 15 Randolph Pitts 15 Norman McCray 16 were involved. Akron man marks first heart transplant anniversary
UPI reports Akron resident Howard Lawson aged 51 celebrated one year since his heart transplant. He mowed, painted, swam, and his daughter gave a cake. The donor was Barbara Smith of Walnut Ridge Arkansas who died in a Cleveland traffic accident. Lawson spent 22 days in hospital and still visits the Cleveland Clinic twice weekly for anti rejection drugs.

Metroliner coach fare hike on Penn Central line
Penn Central raised Metroliner coach fares today with increases of 1 dollar for tips up to 174 miles and 2 dollars for longer trips. The New York to Washington fare becomes 16.70 and Philadelphia to Washington 99.25, while Metro club fares stay unchanged. The service opened last January and has served over 300,000 riders.
