Bound for court Man must stand trial for alleged stabbings
A city man, Jeffery Altman, 28, of Rear 1113 Dewey Ave, is ordered to stand trial on criminal homicide and aggravated assault charges for the death of Larry A. Cioffi II, 20, and stabbing his cousin Donald Cioffi, 21, after an altercation on Cascade Street and Dewey Avenue. The incident occurred about 10:15 p.m. July 24 near 1100 Dewey Ave, with two teens testifying at a preliminary hearing before District Justice Ernest M. Crawford Jr.

City business facing charges in fatal crash
Lehigh County prosecutors charged New Castle Trailer Corp with homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter over a fatal crash in Whitehall Township. Investigators say seven of ten lug nuts on an inside wheel were loose on a reconditioned trailer sold to Dennis Kelley of Parsons WV, causing a wheel to detach and strike a passing car. The crash killed Thomas Moran and injured his wife and three children.
