The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad posts a $25000 reward for the capture of train wreckers amid a widening investigation. Bloodhounds are believed close to tracking the culprits as authorities push for a full inquiry.
Dr Frederick A Cook, claimed North Pole discoverer, tells global reporters in Copenhagen he kept two weeks of records before arrival and will present them to scientists to prove his voyage. He recalls planting the American flag on April 21 1908 and doubts drift may erase evidence.
Ellwood City expects more than one million dollars in additions and improvements at the Steel Car Forge plant within months. The project includes a blast furnace rod mill and sheet mill to boost capacity and attract 1,000 additional workers, signaling growth for the town and stronger competition to U S Steel via the Standard Steel Car subsidiary. G L Potter third vice president and general manager of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad announced at 2 PM that a $25,000 reward is offered for the arrest and conviction of the wreckers who ditched train No 5 at Chewton this morning, killing three B and O employees.
Seventeen injured and three dead after a Baltimore and Ohio passenger train No. 5 derailed near Chewton. Wreck was caused by train wreckers who removed a fish plate and spread the rails. Engineers and passengers from Chicago Junction and Baltimore, many sent to Shenango Valley hospital, with scenes of confusion and urgent aid efforts.
County Detective Logan reports railroad wrecking in Wampum with crowbar and hammer found near bent rail. Bloodhounds from Warren, Ohio track scent through Chewton and McCandless area as Capt Callahan and seven detectives pursue suspects with prior conduct records.

Also listed are Sergeant John E Walsh of the state constabulary charged with striking Hugh Houston during a strikers parade and Detective Frank Clancey for assault at the Leslie house. Other cases involve Samuel L Riddle Myron O Riddle and C G Martin defrauding creditors and Sebastiano Dellavecchia assault and battery.

Smith of 405 Pollock avenue as new Pittsburg Dispatch reporting raises theories of foul play for the July killing linked to money on his person. His son, a Shenango tin mill timekeeper, retrieved the body in Chicago and has urged further investigation after a disputed suicide finding.
Italian laborer Jim Lamb was seriously injured near the Lehigh Cement plant when a blasting charge exploded at about 5 30 pm Friday. A large stone fragment struck him, fracturing his skull. Offutt's ambulance took him to Shenango Valley hospital where surgeons trephined the skull. He is expected to recover.
American Window Glass plants at Jeannette and Belle Vernon shut down as 1,500 workers walked out under a strike call from W H Shinn of the Window Glass Cutters Flatteners union. Over 5,000 men affected. Shinn expects a 20 percent wage increase soon with no anticipated trouble.

Mercer Pa Sept 4 Oscar Stewart known as Oscar Byron was instantly killed at Leesburg station while crawling over a locomotive tender. His slip caused him to be struck by the moving train. He was about 25 and had come to the area as a machinist at New Castle before taking to railroading to fund his home trip to Milnor Utah. His body was sent to Miller's undertaking establishment.
