Acid Kills Life in Six Mile Creek After Plant Spill
Work began at National Rolling Mills Co. in Malvern to remove a storm drain that carried cyanide from a burst hose coupling. The chemical flowed into Little Valley Creek, killing fish minnows worms crawfish turtles and other life over six miles as Valley Creek feeds the Schuylkill River. This marks a second cyanide kill in five years after a 1964 overflow.

Dirksen Undergoes Delicate Lung Tumor Operation

Two Gunmen Rob Service Station At Highway Oil
Two gunmen robbed a Highway Oil Co service station on U S 422 at the Pennsylvania Ohio line early today. They forced attendant David Lee Boyer 18 to open the safe and held Todd Pedulla 15 at gunpoint before escaping in a navy blue car. One suspect is about 22 with blond hair and the other about 22 with black hair and cowboy boots. The station had prior weekend break in and an unpaid gasoline incident.
