Lawrence County Faces Redefined Judicial Districts Proposal
President Judge John F. Henderson has asked the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to create five magisterial districts in Lawrence County. The plan would make New Castle a first class district with an elected justice of the peace earning 12000 dollars annually, and form four third class districts with peaces paid 8000 dollars yearly. The Supreme Court must finalize districts by January 1. Eight aldermen and 45 justices of the peace may run in their districts or finish their terms, after which offices will be abolished and five squires remain with county funded space and fees.
