Austrian laborer Johann Ivancovic, 42, was suffocated at South Sharon near the Carnegie blast furnaces when a passing steel hopper car dumped ore into an open bin. Workmen, unaware of his presence, opened the bin doors and the ore collapsed. He was recovered too late.
In Stoneboro Mercer County a fatal coal mine accident at Mercer Iron and Coal Mine No 7 killed Wesley Wright 15 while loading cars onto a cage at the tipple. A foreign coworker escaped with minor injuries as Wright’s body was torn by a wheel. Wright was the son of Stephen and Mrs Wright and the incident shocked the town.

New York Nov 27 Dr Frederick A Cook the Arctic explorer did not appear on the Cunarder Caronia sailing list for Italy to recuperate after a nervous breakdown. No trace of his whereabouts could be found in New York. His lawyer said he did not know his location.
Harrisburg reports Pennsylvania iron and steel output fell in 1908 from 1907. Pig iron totaled 6,973,000 gross tons with 4,338,000 tons less and $95.455 million loss in value. Steel output reached 7,510,000 tons valued at about $2.734 billion, with over 92,000 workers. Allegheny led both iron and steel, Lawrence ranked second in iron and third in steel.
Knights of Columbus members will hold a memorial service for Peter Agan in their council chamber fifth floor Hoyt block Sunday afternoon at 83 30 o'clock. Agan was a highly respected, retiring member who made many friends in the city. The D of A social planned for December 3 has been postponed to December 10.
