Fire marshal to probe blaze in mobile home
The state fire marshal will investigate a blaze yesterday in Union Township at 1765 Old Youngstown Road. The fire, near Route 422, began around 1 20 p m. A male resident tried to fight the flames before escaping. Mahoning and Pulaski townships sent units. No injuries were reported. Firefighters remained at the scene until about 3 30 p m.

Man faces attempted homicide charges after hit and run
A South New Castle man, Michael Todd Fallon, 29, of 2315 Morris St, is charged with attempted homicide and multiple related counts after a hit and run and alleged vehicle strike. He remains jailed in lieu of 100000 dollars bond. Police began after a father reported a fight at Shenango Elementary School and a hit-and-run in the school parking lot. The victim identified a black Jeep driven by Fallon.

Edinburg man cited in robberies at El Dorado Motel
Edinburg resident Mark Anthony Ortiz, 28, of 2678 Benjamin Franklin Highway, faces three conspiracy charges after an attempted armed robbery at the El Dorado Motel in Shenango Township. He is jailed on a 150000 dollar bond on counts including conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Police responded to the 2618 New Butler Road incident shortly before 11 p.m. on November 17, when a clerk described two masked men entering the lobby and one displaying a handgun demanding money.

Blackhawk superintendent leaves for Wilmington
