Miss Margaret Hardy Brighton's first woman mayor predicts nudity will be commonplace in ten years at the seaside resort. She also says 1934 will feature four hour working days and virtually non-stop holidays for the public with attendant profits to Brighton.
Harrisburg report on the McClure liquor control bill facing final passage in the house as a special order of business at 3 pm after a five hour debate. A test vote showed the bill rebuilt along agreed lines by a large margin. The administration also pushes a tax measure of two dollars per proof gallon on liquor. The senate plans Friday action to move both measures this week.
A brush and forest fire swept along a two mile front in the foothills near La Crescenta threatening La Crescenta and La Canada suburbs west of Pasadena. The blaze had burned over more than 2000 acres with destruction of homes and two mountain sanitariums feared as 2000 men fought the flames.
Hollywood star Maureen O'Sullivan was gravely ill from peritonitis after an emergency appendectomy on Sunday. A serum supply was flown from San Francisco to aid treatment.
On a hospital bed in Woodbury New Jersey Mrs Audrey Smith Clark a former stage dancer was scheduled to be arraigned for the wilful and malicious killing of her husband Sheldon A Clark son of a Chicago oil magnate and wealthy sportsman The arraignment was ordered by Mayor James A Burke of Paulsboro on the complaint of County Detective W Clayton Apgar.
A Santa Monica note recalls Barney Baruch agreeing that Washington will act independently on money policy. Baruch says the official will consider all voices but make his own decision, aiming to benefit the majority even if a minority objects.

Announcement reports the appointment of C. A Campbell as agent for the Baltimore and Ohio railroad at Bradford Pennsylvania. He succeeds the late Patrick N. McCarthy.
City firemen were called to 120 Smithfield street where a small blaze in a garage owned by Dave Samuels was extinguished immediately with little damage. Earlier at 11:55 last evening, firemen responded to Box 53 on Long avenue but found no fire or people on the scene.
