Jail officers fired charged in restraint case
Lawrence County prison guards Michael Antonio and Stephen Richard Smith were fired and charged after allegedly restraining taunting and scattering items at a male inmate in the booking area. The inmate, held on rape charges, was taped on security video for 37 minutes as the guards used gloves filled with water and other objects. Both defendants posted $10,000 bond and were arraigned by District Judge Melissa Amodie.
