Joseph H. Miller and his son Horace, officers of the Amsterdam Diamond company, face federal charges in Buffalo for using the mails to defraud. The New Castle operation led to thousands in losses for 350 area residents, with witnesses detailing contracts sold to a wide cross section of citizens and the so called diamond venture.
A fast freight from Pittsburg to Butler jumped the track near Callery Junction. Engineer Wesley Kline and Fireman James Taylor were injured. Conductor Bishop also bruised. Mrs. Goldie Friedlander of Carmel New Jersey died in Bellevue hospital after hydrophobia contracted from a bite by a pet dog on October 10. She died in terrible agony in an isolated ward tonight.
A major blaze in San Francisco destroyed twelve buildings including the Coliseum roller skating rink causing about $130,000 in losses. Fire crews contained the fire after dawn, with no immediate reports of injuries.
The Society of King Humbert the First led by President Michael Conti buys the Thomas Golder property on Division Street for about $20,000. A letter from Le Roy Cannon accuses Zelaya of personal vendetta and details his imprisonment and desire to remove Zelaya from power. A separate New Orleans letter portrays Nicaragua under Zelaya as lawless, with 10,000 in exile and 14,000 jailed, while US officials face insults and forced withdrawals. American intervention urged.
