Night Fire Gutts 9 Resort Units in Atlantic City Blaze
A pre dawn fire at Surfside Hotel convalescent home destroyed nine resort units and spread to eight other Boardwalk hotels injuring at least 12 people. Police said only seven of 28 Surfside guests escaped as crews faced extreme heat and smoke. The Stratmore Leon ard Imperial and Breyer homes were also destroyed or damaged with several hotels left guestless. One officer and two firefighters were among the injured.
