A Winona railroad freight train leaving Peru at 4 30 am was lost four hours in a record snowstorm in Indiana. The crew, bucking drifts up to seven feet high, reached Akron at 8 05 am after covering 24 miles. An old fashioned barn dance last night at James Elder’s new barn near Wilmington Junction drew about 1000 attendees. The crowd stayed orderly as a two floor venue hosted square dances led by Joseph Brooks and others. Visitors from New Wilmington Volant Neshannon Falls and nearby towns joined locals including bankers merchants and farmers. Elder provided a large cider barrel and ample parking on the access road.
