Barn Fire Destroys Farm Structures and Kills Horses
Early morning blaze at Dan D. Byler’s Heather Heights Road farm in Wilmington Township wiped out a 2400 square foot barn and a 900 square foot shed, with four to five horses killed. Cattle escaped. a milkhouse, silo, corn crib and several sheds saved. Cause undetermined. Five tankers supplied water. remains still being wetted down seven hours after start.

Court blocks executions of three killers
Pennsylvania Supreme Court halted the scheduled executions of three murderers. John Lesko and Michael Travaglia had been set for the electric chair at Rockview prison, while Keith Zettlemeyer faced a December 3 death date. The warrants, issued by Gov. Heart group pushes smokeless America by 2000
The American Heart Association urged doubling the federal cigarette tax to 32 cents a pack and banning tobacco advertising to curb smoking. The report, from a Washington meeting, also backed broad clean-air laws and aid for farmers to switch crops. If enacted, the tax hike could lower smokers by 2.2 million and raise federal revenue by about 4.1 billion.
