Health Officer McCandless investigates a citywide chickenpox outbreak in New Castle. He finds 14 pupils out of room No 1 at Highland Avenue School, several others ill in rooms 2 and 4, and 12 cases at West Side School. Fumigation of school buildings follows.
Youngstown reports a former county officer pleaded guilty to a bribery charge related to a municipal action. A self confessed briber may face further prosecution for voting, which could strip him of office and voting rights. More defendants are expected to plead guilty as graft trials resume.
A hot mill meeting in Fidelis hall adjourned without a vote on ending the strike. Amalgamated men and other workers mingled, with John Bishton and William H. Davis prominent. Davis threatened to stay with his union card as tension rose and the gathering dissolved before closure.
Mrs Elizabeth Cahill of Fountain street North side Pittsburg learned Friday that a man killed by a Baltimore and Ohio train at West Pittsburg was her husband Jerry Cahill. A recent union card reading Frank Johnson helped identify the victim, and Johnson informed Cahill's wife after reading the accident report. Family members will travel to the city to claim the body.

Beaver county sues the Central District and Printing Telegraph company, later Bell company, for 2500 damages claiming use of toll bridges for telephone lines. Cases move to Lawrence County courts on change of venue from Beaver County to avoid county taxpayer jurors. Bridges involved span Beaver Falls Eastvale, Rochester Monaca, and Rochester Bridgewater with claims of 500, 1000, 1000 respectively. The company argues wires predated county ownership and that bridges became public highway property. The dispute centers on rightful owner and damage liability.
H E McGoun plans a large Washington street building occupying the former Winternitz cigar store site. Construction may begin next spring depending on the Devlin heirs next to the new Pittsburg street bridge. If they build, McGoun will start simultaneously though details remain undecided.
Sharon Pa November 13 for the first time since the tinworkers went on strike on July 1 the hot mill department in the South Sharon plant of the American Sheet and Tinplate company is operating in full. All of the 21 hot mills are running and practically the whole of the tinning department is in operation. It is said that the workmen will be placed on a tonnage basis next week with few desertions expected.

Bailey, a New Castle resident, was attacked by five men at the Gardener avenue bridge near the S river while walking to Shenango mill. He suffered a deep head wound and multiple bruises. his dinner bucket and package were thrown into the creek. Bailey claims he recognizes his attackers and says police will swear out information. story continued on Page Two.
Samuel S McDanel, longtime Clinton resident near W pum, died Saturday morning at his home after a long illness tied to diabetes. He was 75 years old. Survived by his wife and several children including Mrs. Mary Wardman Slippery Rock, Mrs. Sarah Tanner Shenango Township, Anna Oland er Racine Pa, William Coverdale, Howard Clinton, Minta McConahy, Mrs. Laura Rep, Mrs. Stella Hennon all of W pum. Funeral Monday at 2 pm in Clinton M E church with burial in Clinton cemetery.
Rev A B McCormick of Central Presbyterian Church will serve a Sunday evening for Walworth New York being called there by the death of an intimate friend Eugene T Sanford brother in law of Mrs McCormick The sad news was received Thursday The deceased was an artist and formerly had his studio in Warren Pennsylvania Mrs Sanford has many friends here having visited with her sister Mrs McCormick
A boy fleeing a hay loft fire at Chris Hostetter's barn a mile from New Wilmington alerted the family after noon Saturday. The barn burned completely, consuming grain, hay, farm machinery, two horses, and a calf. losses totaled at least 2500.
