Salvation Army Kettle Campaign kicks off in New Castle
Salvation Army launches its annual Red Kettle Campaign in New Castle at Shop N Save Westgate Plaza. Captains Geoff and Mari Swires say the drive is the largest fundraiser, funding 70 percent of annual income and aiding Santa gifts, food, coats, and social services locally and regionally. The goal is $70,000 with a regional target of over $2.7 million across western Pennsylvania.

Veterans Day Parade Fetes Local Heroes in Lawrence County
Hundreds gathered downtown for the Lawrence County Veterans Council annual parade. A Zambelli Internationale fireworks salute launched the march from the Columbus Inner belt, touring Croton Avenue and East Washington Street before returning to the Innerbelt. The procession included groups such as 1st Battalion 107th Field Artillery HQ, VFW posts 315 and 267, AMVETS Post 281, American Legion Post 343, New Castle Honor Guard, and other veterans organizations with Robert Walker as parade marshal and Thomas E. Lane as grand marshal.

Police said alcohol drugs and texting were not factors in a fatal head on crash on Connelly Boulevard near Oak land Avenue viaduct. Victims were Corey Swartz 18 Evan Gill 17 and John Zdelar 50 Brookfield. Two other Sharon players were injured. Zdelar driver of pickup with two boys.
