An 11 year old hunter, Ralph Hopkins of Sewickley R D 3, was accidentally fatally shot in western Pennsylvania. The incident occurred when he and his uncle exited their car after a hunting trip. The charge from the uncle's pistol struck the boy in the neck.
President Hoover, en route to California, makes final plea to voters from a train near the Nevada desert. After 11,000 miles of campaigning, he will vote at Stanford University in Palo Alto with Mrs. Hoover, as election results loom and his bid for a fourth term hinges on the outcome.
In Philadelphia the first hour of voting saw a very heavy turnout among 446 423 registered citizens as 1566 precincts opened at 7 am. Voters queued quietly awaiting polling places while Moorer remained the favorite in the presidential race with betting odds around 3 to 1.
